Frequently asked questions
What does the race scenario comparison do?
It puts up to four pacing plans side by side and measures scenarios 2 to 4 against scenario 1. For every scenario you set the swim, bike and run distances and the swim, T1, bike, T2 and run times; the page shows the finish time, the difference to scenario 1 in time and percent, and the pace or speed of each split.
How do I get my plan from the triathlon calculator into a scenario?
Use "Import from the planner" in the course section. It sets the course to the distances you last used on the triathlon calculator and scenario 1 to its split times, in the unit system chosen in the header, so you can build variations from your actual plan instead of typing it again.
What is a useful comparison to run?
Keep the swim and transitions equal and trade bike for run: a scenario that rides two minutes per hour slower but runs 20 seconds per kilometre faster often finishes ahead, because a hard bike costs more on the run than it gains on the bike. A second useful pair is a conservative and an aggressive plan for the same fitness, so you know both your safe target and your stretch target before race day.
Are the scenarios saved?
Yes, in your browser. They are there when you come back, and Reset Defaults clears them. Nothing is sent to a server.
